Looking for information about health conditions or health care providers? A state website, FloridaHealthFinder.gov, offers answers, and AARP Florida is encouraging people to learn how to use it through a free online seminar.

Managed by a committee that includes an AARP representative, the site provides practical information such as prescription drug prices in the area and location of health care providers.

New to the site is a section on nursing homes, with details on price, occupancy and ratings. With more than 680 facilities, Florida ranks sixth in the nation in the number of nursing homes, which serve about 72,000 people. But Florida also has one of the lowest ratios of nursing home residents to 65-plus population.
