Last week, Miami welcomed AARP Chief Public Policy Officer and author Debra Whitman for two inspiring events focused on her book, The Second Fifty: Answers to the 7 Big Questions of Midlife and Beyond.

First on Sunday, November 24th at the vibrant Miami Book Fair, Debra Whitman captivated attendees with an engaging discussion on aging, purpose, and resilience. Drawing from her personal journey and AARP research, she addressed key questions many face as they navigate midlife: Will I be healthy? Will I have enough money? Will I lose my memory?

Her talk resonated deeply with the audience as she shared practical advice, surprising research findings, and uplifting stories from people across the nation. A lively Q&A session followed, allowing participants to delve further into the insights presented. The event concluded with a book signing, leaving attendees inspired to embrace their second fifty with optimism and purpose.

The following day, Debra hosted an intimate reading and discussion at AARP Senior Planet in Wynwood. This session offered attendees a closer look into the creation of her book and a chance to explore its themes in depth. Guests enjoyed a light lunch, with the first 20 arrivals receiving complimentary signed copies of The Second Fifty.

Both events were a testament to the power of connection and learning. Debra Whitman’s message reinforced that the second half of life can be just as vibrant and meaningful as the first.
