Beginning February 1 and continuing through April 15, AARP Foundation is providing tax assistance and preparation through its Tax-Aide program. There’s no fee, and AARP membership is not required.
The program is offered at a dozen sites across DC, including recreation centers, libraries and other convenient locations. Click here to view a brochure of the 2019 AARP Foundation Tax-Aide sites in the District.
“During tax season stress levels, for many of us, tend to run north of calm. This free program, which is open to everyone, is one big way we help to alleviate that pressure,” said Louis Davis, Jr., AARP DC State Director. “It’s critical that everyone, especially our seniors, get what they need to file appropriately and get the most back from their taxes. Last year we saw over $2.9 million in refunds to our program participants in DC. We hope to surpass that in 2019.”
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest free tax assistance and preparation service. Since its inception, the program has served more than 50 million taxpayers. Last year, 85 AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers helped more than 4,253 people file their federal and state tax returns in the District.
