EVENTS

ONGOING

Third Wednesday of Each Month  -  Learn a Latte. We’ll offer engaging and educational speakers on a wide variety of topics the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Enjoy complimentary, fresh baked pastries and gourmet coffee and lattes. Check the calendar below for the topic each month.
Location: Schuler Books.  2660 28th Street SE, Grand Rapids.
Time: 10:00 to 11:30 am.



Fourth Tuesday of Each Month  -  AARP on Tap. Connect with other 50+ folks over a beer (or other beverage). Learn about local craft breweries, network with interesting, purposeful adults and enjoy a night out on the town with AARP on Tap.
Location: Varies, west Michigan and Grand Rapids area.

JANUARY

Wednesday, January 16  -  Learn a Latte.  Join us as we kick off our 2019 morning coffee speakers’ series – Learn A Latte. Vonda VanTil from the Social Security Administration joins us for our first event! She’ll answer your Social Security questions, even after you've started receiving benefits. Enjoy complimentary, fresh baked pastries and gourmet coffee and lattes.

Tuesday, January 22  -  AARP on Tap: Bloody Mary Edition. Connect with other 50+ folks over a beer or in this case, a Bloody Mary. Learn learn the secrets to making a great Bloody Mary, about local craft breweries, network with interesting, purposeful adults and enjoy a night out on the town with AARP on Tap.
Location: Thornapple Brewing Company, 6262 28th St SE, Grand Rapids.

FEBRUARY

February 1 - A Night with Grand Rapids Drive Basketball. Enjoy a night with the Grand Rapids Drive basketball team and AARP as the Drive take on the Westchester Knicks. AARP members can purchase $8 tickets for the February 1st game (normally $10). Seating is limited and on a first-come-first-served basis. Get your tickets today!

MARCH

Wednesday, March 27  -  HomeFit.  The AARP HomeFit program is designed to help us remain in our own home as we age. This 2 hour program leads us through the process of thinking about each area of our home to determine if it will meet our changing needs as we get older and identify how we might make improvements.
Location: Disability Advocates of Kent County.  3600 Camelot Drive SE, Grand Rapids.
Time: 1:00 to 3:00 pm.   Reserve your seat.

 

ONLINE/VIRTUAL EVENTS

  • Ads & Scams — Trends, Tips and Tools from the Federal Trade Commission.Join AARP’s on-demand online event, featuring attorneys and fraud experts Karen Mandel, Annette Soberats and Lisa Schifferle from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). You’ll discover some of the proven ways to spot bogus ads and scams and learn how to file a complaint with the FTC. You’ll also hear the latest trends, tips and tools about a number of commonly fraudulent products, services and schemes. Click Here.
