Family caregivers looking for a much-needed break can attend a Caregiver Happy Hour on Tuesday, Dec. 18.

It’s a chance to connect with other caregivers, hear from experts, share ideas and learn about valuable local resources.

AARP Arizona will host the event at Outrageous Homebrewer’s Social Outpost, an eatery and brewery at 4900 E. Indian School Road in Phoenix, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Organizers promise it will be fun—and not just because the drinks and appetizers are free. All caregivers in Maricopa County are welcome.

Dana Marie Kennedy, AARP Arizona state director, said, “Caregiving can be overwhelming and sometimes isolating, so we thought a happy hour could help people who may not know where to start.”

Even the most-committed caregivers sometimes need a break and someone to talk with. In Arizona, 804,000 family members spent 749 million hours caring for their relatives and partners, according to a 2015 AARP Public Policy Institute report.
