Military Veterans are proud of their service to their nation and rightly so. They’ve earned that right putting their lives on the line as family members stand strong during the Servicemember’s deployments and training exercises. The character of a Veteran is one who remains resolute to remain independent.
Yet older Veterans may one day need a hand when it comes to connecting their earned benefits and obtaining care for themselves or their loved ones.
“AARP Florida has been working with the National Association of Veterans & Families to support the Veteran’s community on critical topics like caregiving,” said Colleen Krepstekies, associate state director for communications in Florida and the state lead for Veteran’s outreach. “This small but mighty national non-profit has a great program helping Veterans and their families connect to benefits that could ultimately help them lighten their load financially and emotionally.”
Not all Veterans are aware of the benefits they might be eligible for or know how to apply for them. The NAVF operates to help Veterans connect with benefits that can help them with long term care and other services such as in-home nursing visits.
“We’re happy to be working with AARP because of their caregiving expertise, which complements our mission that help older Veterans live their later years with greater financial security,” said Joe Solsona, director of NAVF. “It’s our way to give back to Veterans and their families for their many sacrifices.”
The collaborative educational programming is scheduled to take place in three places across Florida over the next few months. Sessions are free and provide information that every veteran and family should know about regrading caregiving and connecting to their hard-earned veterans’ benefits.
