The Illinois Commerce Commission is currently considering a proposal from Nicor that would raise customers’ water rates by $316 million. If approved, this would be the largest gas hike in history and customer rates are expected to rise by more than $90 a year.
AARP Illinois will participate in a Grandparents Day celebration on Friday, Aug. 10, at Crest Hill Library, 20670 Len Kubinski Drive, in Crest Hill, about 40 miles southwest of Chicago. Proton pump inhibitors, or PPIs, are a class of drugs that treat acid reflux and peptic ulcers. The three most commonly prescribed PPIs are omeprazole, pantoprazole and esomeprazole. In recent years, some studies reported that PPIs increase risk for dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. We hear patients asking questions about this issue, so I’d like to clarify what we currently know about this risk.
