AARP Iowa has a team of trained volunteers who are eager to protect older state residents from scams and fraud.
The Iowa State Fair in Des Moines is the largest event in the state and one of the oldest agricultural and industrial expositions in the country. The 2018 fair runs Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 9-19, and about a million people are expected to attend.
As part of the 2018 Des Moines Arts Festival, AARP Movies for Grownups is cosponsoring the Interrobang Film Festival, Friday-Sunday, June 22-24.
Iowa’s primary elections will be Tuesday, June 5, and every statewide office is up for grabs, with contested primaries in each race.

It ain’t o ver ‘til it’s over. Technically, my time at AARP Iowa is coming to an end. But it sure doesn’t feel like it. There is still work to be done. In addition to our normal intern duties, like social media, and Age-Friendly business evaluations, we are also prepping for the Iowa State Fair.
It's been a little bit cray-cray at AARP Iowa lately. Between event prep and innovation training and retirements and intern presentations, I don’t know if I have had time to become anymore insightful.
