Join us at the 2013 Fraud Prevention and Safety Summit

Learn how to protect yourself

The AARP Foundation in Colorado is working with a variety of community partners to present the 2013 Fraud Prevention and Safety Summit—a one-day, no-cost event to empower you with tools and information to stay safe and avoid fraud before it happens. The event is organized by the 18th Judicial District Office of the District Attorney and will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the Lone Tree Arts Center.

Attend this event to learn how to keep yourself and your personal information safe. You’ll have the opportunity to interact with more than a dozen local and federal agencies at their resource tables, and you’ll hear from expert presenters from law enforcement, social services, government, regulators, and nonprofits.

Participating agencies include the 18th Judicial District Office of the District Attorney, AARP Foundation/AARP ElderWatch, Arapahoe and Douglas County Sheriff's Offices, Arapahoe and Douglas County Human Services/Adult Protection (APS), Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies Division of Insurance (DORA), Denver/Boulder Better Business Bureau, Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), Denver Regional Mobility and Access Council (DRMAC), FINRA Investor Education Foundation, Guardianship Alliance of Colorado, Lone Tree Police Department, Social Security Administration, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Western Union.

“We are really excited to be bringing this event to older Coloradans,” said Amy Nofziger, director of regional operations for AARP Foundation. “We’ve been fortunate enough to partner on events like this for more than 10 years, and it provides a much-needed service for the community.”

You’ll also have the opportunity to enjoy a free breakfast and a free lunch, and you may even win a door prize! The event begins at 7:30 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m. and pre-registration is required. Click here for more information and to register.
