The reviews are in. And AARP’s Movies for Grownups is a big hit in Arkansas. That success is due entirely to the volunteer teams in Little Rock and Northwest Arkansas who have helped make them possible.

"These guys are stars," said Lou Tobian, Outeach Director. "Volunteers are there from set up to show time and beyond. They help get people registered, as well as field questions about AARP in Arkansas and host community listening posts." (Listening posts are interactive exercises designed to gather community insights on important issues.)

Since Movies for Grownups began two years ago, AARP Arkansas has hosted free showings of first-run flicks like The Last Jedi, critically-acclaimed films like Selma, and quirky documentaries such as  James Beard: America’s First Foodie. And at each event, volunteers played a starring role. Volunteers, such as the Movies for Grownups teams, allow AARP to reach more people, more often in more ways that better their lives.

AARP's Movies for Grownups celebrates and encourages films with unique appeal to audiences with a grownup state of mind—and recognizes the inspiring artists who make them. With weekly news and reviews, nationwide screenings, and an annual awards event, AARP champions movies for grownups, by grownups.
