Tuesdays at the State House Book Discussion Group

Happy child with books
Beata Becla

Each Tuesday during the legislative session, AARP invites our members to participate in Tuesdays at the State House.

We have selected three books to read and discuss in 2019 to increase our policy proficiency. They are Evicted, by Matthew Desmund (discussion on March 5th), Being Mortal, by Atul Gawande (discussion on April 23rd) and American Sickness, by Elisabeth Rosenthal (discussion on June 11th).

Each book will be provided to T@SH volunteers 6 weeks prior to the discussion, each of which will be held in the Maine State Library Conference Room (The Studio) from 9:30-11am. We've invited policy experts to join us for each discussion.

This is an entirely optional opportunity. If you love to read, so do we! There are NO requriements to read the books to participate in T@SH or the discussions.

Here are reviews of each:

Evicted , by Matthew Desmund

Will be distributed beginning January 22, discussion on March 5th from 9:30-11am

Being Mortal , by Atul Gawande

Will be distributed beginning March 12, discussion on April 23rd from 9:30-11am

American Sickness , by Elisabeth Rosenthal

Will be distributed beginning April 30th, discussion on June 11th from 9:30-11am

We look forward to reading and learning with you! Please contact us at 207-776-6303 or me@aarp.org with any questions.
