EMERA MAINE CUSTOMERS: RAISE YOUR VOICE BEFORE THEY RAISE YOUR RATES!

rubino_emera_ratewatch

Emera Maine, the second-largest electric utility company in Maine, is once again seeking to raise electric rates for their customers.  This is the third rate hike Emera Maine has requested in the past five years.

Raising electric rates is unaffordable for many Maine families, especially those who are living on fixed incomes.  AARP Maine is fighting to help older Mainers and their families keep the lights on.

We strongly oppose Emera Maine’s latest request to raise rates. Do you?

What you can do:

  1. Sign the public petition here.
  2. Download a flyer and share it with friends, family, and neighbors

This is your opportunity make your voice heard on this important issue.  Please help spread the word about the hearings to your friends, neighbors and family members.

If you have any questions, please contact AARP Maine at 207-776-6303 or email us at me@aarp.org

Emera Maine Rate Hike History

2013:     8.6 percent rate increase was approved by the Maine Public Utilities Commission.
2015:     3.75 percent rate increase was approved by the Maine Public Utilities Commission.
2018:     another rate increase has now been requested by Emera Maine

Three rate hikes in five years is unaffordable for many Maine Families.

More than 80 Emera Maine customers attended the May 1st public hearings in Machias, Orono and Presque Isle on May 1st to make their voices heard.  We submitted 570 petitions as part of the public record.  If you haven't yet done so, please sign the petition and add YOUR voice to this critical campaign!
