When Congress takes a break and legislators return home, it’s a good time to get their ear. AARP Maine is recruiting volunteers to meet with the state’s congressional delegation during recess periods.

The Recess Regulars organize meetings with lawmakers and their staff to discuss issues of concern to Mainers 50 and older and their families.

Volunteer training is provided, by conference calls and email exchanges, so participants can get up to speed on the issues and learn how to communicate clearly and effectively.

After the meetings, volunteers debrief AARP Maine staff on the discussion with policymakers.
