Kennebec River Rail Trail Weekly Walk
Every Thursday beginning April 4th| 8:30 a.m.-10 a.m.

Kennebec River Waterfront (by the colorful Adirondack Chairs)

Start your Thursdays with fresh air and good company. Together we will decide to walk toward Augusta or Gardiner for an out-and-back walk together. Bring your friends and make new ones.

AARP is pleased to support the annual Pride Portland! Festival in Deering Oaks Park. Visit our table and spin the prize wheel to take home some AARP summer swag.

Guided Walk or Bike on the Eastern Trail

Enjoy the Scarborough Marsh in partnership with the Eastern Trail Alliance (ETA) and the Bicycle Coalition of Maine (BCM). If biking, bring your own bike and helmet (required). The ETA will guide an out-and-back walk, and the BCM will guide an out-and-back bike ride. This is a perfect multigenerational activity for your friends, neighbors, kids and grandkids. Please leave your furry friends at home.

Hidden Gardens of Munjoy Hill

Take a peek at the beautiful gardens hidden among charming Munjoy Hill streets. This enchanting annual event is a self-guided tour beginning at Fort Allen Park, and supports the Friends of the Eastern Prom.

Tea with Harriet has been CANCELLED and the historian will be our guest speaker at our Portland Free Coffee Friday.

The Harriet Beecher Stowe House was the rented home of Stowe and her family from 1850 to 1852. It was there that Stowe wrote Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Tea with Harriet is a tea and conversation about the life and legacy of Stowe. Cathi, the local historian who presents at the Harriet Beecher Stowe House, will be our guest speaker at our Portland Free Coffee Friday. Tea and saucers will be yours to take home, and refreshments will be provided as usual.

Canoe
Intergenerational Day on the Kennebec River
Saturday, July 27 | 10:30 a.m.

Don’t miss this first ever intergenerational day on the Kennebec River, in partnership with the Age-Friendly Communities of Augusta, Hallowell and Gardiner, Augusta Downtown Alliance, Vision Hallowell, Gardiner Main Street and AARP Maine. Bring your own canoe, kayak, and equipment. Lifejackets and some paddling experience are required.

Registration will begin at Mill Park in Augusta at 10:30 a.m. Volunteers will assist at the Mill Park Boat Launch. The paddle will begin at 11:24 a.m. with high tide. Options are a 2-mile paddle to Hallowell or a 6.5-mile paddle to Gardiner. Shuttles will return you to your car at Mill Park in Augusta, from either Hallowell or Gardiner.

Viles Arboretum Tour

Have you visited Augusta’s Viles Arboretum? This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy this local treasure. The Arboretum's Executive Director will lead a spirited hike and informative nature discussion, with time to self-guide through the Arboretum.

Canoeing with Maine Audubon Society

Explore the Scarborough Marsh by canoe, guided by the Maine Audubon Society. All canoeing and safety equipment is provided.

Cost: $6 per person (half off regular price). Please bring payment to the event to pay the Audubon Society directly.

Watch the full moon rise on a warm summer night. It’s a Maine experience not to be missed. Walks are 60-90 minutes out-and-back on flat gravel, guided by staff and trustees of the Eastern Trail Alliance. All ages welcome, please leave flashlights and furry friends at home.
