Fredericksburg_ AARP Virginia and The Community Wellness Coalition will host a Home Fit Workshop on Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Arm of the Lord Ministries, 2100 Airport Avenue, Fredericksburg, VA.

The purpose of the AARP Home Fit Workshop is to help people find ways to make their homes more livable as they get older. The workshop provides information to participants on home updates that can make it easier for them to go about their daily activities while staying comfortable, independent, and injury-free in their home. Participants learn how to decide what type of home modifications are needed to stay in their home as they age and ideas and inspirations on making those modifications.

“Having the chance to make your home livable allows you to avoid living in assisted living or nursing homes,” said AARP State President, Bob Blancato. “The Home Fit workshop is designed to help people find solutions on how to make their homes safe and maintain independence as they get older.”

In an AARP survey, eight out of 10 people age 45 and older say they want to remain in their homes and communities for as long as possible. The Home Fit workshop will guide participants on how to turn their homes into long-term livability, suitable for themselves and anyone else in their household.

Workshop participants will receive comprehensive advice, tips, and checklists for getting their homes in top form for comfort and safety. Sign up by April 24. Contact Marva Moore at 301-346-2270 or email marvalmoore@gmail.com to register.
