Meeting the Needs of State's Veterans

Veterans2

The Bayou State is home to about 287,000 military veterans, and AARP Louisiana is committed to listening to them and understanding their needs.

With the recent creation of the AARP state office’s Veterans Council, volunteers have begun reaching out to vets across the state to address their concerns about caregiving, fraud and other issues that affect military families.

Louisiana is home to several military bases, as well as two inpatient and 17 outpatient veterans health care facilities and four centers providing counseling and social services for vets. About 42 percent of Louisiana vets are 65 and older.
