Melissa Sinden Presents "Capitol-Catch Up" Week 5

Welcome to week 5 of Capitol Catch-Up with Advocacy Manager Melissa Sinden. The text of the video is below.

"This week at the General Assembly, the House Human Relations and Aging Committee unanimously passed HB 635, which would develop an effective review process for elder abuse. We thank Chairman Sharon Cooper for her leadership on this important legislation. SB 351, a bill that would afford full practice authority for Advance Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) in rural and underserved areas was scheduled to be heard in the Senate Health and Human Services Committee on Thursday, Feb. 8, but the hearing has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 13.

This was also Senior Week at the Capitol for the Coalition of Advocates for Georgia’s Elderly (CO-AGE), for which AARP Georgia was delighted to serve as a sponsor. We want to thank the hundreds of advocates from around the state who visited with their elected officials about these important issues.

Next week, the Legislature is in session Monday-Thursday and we will be back with another update."
