House Republicans were nearly evenly divided on Thursday over legislation allocating federal funding for a federal-state partnership on the federally mandated health insurance exchange under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, but the legislation still passed by a comfortable margin.

AARP Michigan sent letters to legislators in advance of floor votes on the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan reform bills (Senate Bills 1293 and 1294) informing that it would publish the votes for review by our members.

On October 17, the Michigan Senate passed Senate Bills 1293 and 1294, legislation that would impact seniors by restructuring Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM).  AARP Michigan still opposes these bills, and there is still a lot of work that needs to be done when the bills get taken up in the House this month.   However, the versions of the bills that passed the Senate are better than they started.
