November is National Family Caregiver Month, and AARP Mississippi will highlight the need to support caregivers and those for whom they care.
Yesterday, AARP Mississippi released the first in a “commonsense solutions” series of new videos on the 48th anniversary of President Lyndon Johnson signing Medicare into law on July 30, 1965. Mississippi has 369,000 residents who rely on Medicare for their health care coverage, on average spending $5,000 of their income on out-of pocket health care costs. AARP Volunteers From Every State Visit Capitol Hill To Urge Separate Social Security Debate, Press For Responsible Solutions To Strengthen Medicare
AARP volunteers and staff from every state, visited Capitol Hill today to express opposition to the President’s proposed Social Security benefit cut known as Chained CPI and to support responsible solutions to strengthen Medicare. Meeting with Senators, Members of Congress and their staff, AARP volunteers urged their representatives to have a separate debate on Social Security and to back specific proposals that would strengthen Medicare and the health care system overall.
