AARP Montana helped score a major victory for consumers in the 2017 legislative session. A new state law repeals a rule that allowed NorthWestern Energy to pass electricity supply costs on to consumers, with no limits on such things as consulting fees and travel expenses. The change gives the Montana Public Service Commission the authority to control these costs.
At AARP, we believe Medicare is a deal with the American people that must not be broken.
Every family caregiver has a story to tell, and AARP Montana wants to hear them. These personal stories can strengthen testimony as AARP pursues legislative support for caregivers.
Advocacy highlighted in yellow
In a state whose legislature convenes for only 90 days every other year, AARP Montana plans to hit the ground running when the next session begins Jan. 2. The AARP state office will be pressing for legislation that affects more than 400,000 Montanans age 50-plus—including bills to support family caregivers, strengthen consumer protections and safeguard services that help Montanans continue to live at home as they age.
Vote USA
This November you will vote on LR 126, a ballot issue to repeal Montana's Election Day Voter registration law.  AARP is fighting to defeat this bad idea.
