Visit Boomertown at the Pride Festival

CINCINNATI MUSEUM m

Heading to the Twin Cities Pride Festival this month? Then stop by AARP’s Boomertown section to get information about upcoming AARP events, pick up giveaways  and sign up for educational events on technology, caregiving and fraud prevention.

This is the fourth year that AARP is a sponsor of the Pride Festival, which takes place in Minneapolis’ Loring Park on Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, June 26, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In Boomertown, a section geared to those 50 and older, AARP hosts several other Twin Cities nonprofits that are active in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) community. These organizations include the Prime Timers MSP, Volunteers of America, Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly and the Alzheimer’s Association of Minnesota-North Dakota.

Boomertown has proven popular with festivalgoers, especially LGBTQ older people who pioneered the movement but hadn’t felt there was a place at the festival that spoke to their interests.

The Twin Cities Pride Festival ( tcpride.org/event) is one of the largest in the nation, drawing more than 250,000 people over the two days. It’s open to everyone. —Mary Van Beusekom
