Massabesic Audubon Offers Activities for AARP Members

It’s time to put summer behind us and shift gears to fall and winter activities! AARP is offering three activities in collaboration with the Massabesic Audubon Center from October through December.

So, whether you’re celebrating nature, gearing up for the holidays, or learning how to identify trees in the winter, you won’t want to miss the fun!

The line-up of events and RSVP information follows:

Winter Bird Feeding
Thursday, October 24, 2019. 6:30 to 8:00 pm
Cost for AARP member and one guest: $10 per person

What better way to spend a cold, blustery day than sitting with your favorite steaming beverage, watching backyard birds flit about your feeders? Our avian friends can provide hours of fun, entertainment and education! Explore the best feeder set-ups, what food options attract the biggest variety of birds, how to identify your feathered guests, and tips to keep your feeding stations clean and inviting.

Cocktails and Crafts
Friday, November 22, 2019. 5:30 to 7:30 pm
Cost for AARP member and one guest: $20 per person

Back by popular demand! Get ready for the holidays at this fun event creating home decorations using natural materials. Let your imagination go wild! Come with friends and enjoy a crafty evening. Greens, dried flowers, seed heads, cones and glue are provided. Refreshments, too. This is an adult event – 21 or over. Space is limited, so be sure to register early (this event sold out the last two years.)

Winter Tree Identification
Saturday, December 7, 2019. 10:00 to 11:30 am
Cost for AARP member and one guest: $10 per person
Learn how to identify New Hampshire tree species during the winter after the leaves have fallen and conifers stand out. Check out identifiers such as bark, bud arrangement, leaf scars and more.

Mark your calendars now! All events will take place at the Massabesic Audubon Center at 26 Audubon Way in Auburn.
