CHARLOTTE -- AARP’s Without Limits is a new hour-long program on WBT radio devoted to the interests, needs and aspirations of the 50+ population. Premiering at 6:00 pm, on January 16 th, listeners will have a chance to tune in each week to a unique program that speaks to the new face of aging in the Charlotte area.

According to AARP Associate State Director Michael Olender, the program is all about the Charlotte area. Olender along with David Gwilt, former host of Radio 4 the Ages, will co-host the program bringing both wit and an understanding of the challenges that face Boomers and older adults in the region.

Olender, who is working to redefine what it means to age in Mecklenburg and surrounding counties said, “What will make the program especially interesting will be the notion that aging is where opportunity begins, not ends.

"Society tends to look at aging with a sense of anxiety, where getting older means that you lose your ability to make an impact, Olender explained. "But that perception is antiquated and false, and a guiding principle of Without Limits is to disrupt those dated notions and help change how we perceive aging in America."

Unlike other radio programs airing on commercial stations, Without Limits is not commercial in nature. As a radio veteran Gwilt said, “There are a number of programs on the air that offer good information and bits of advice, but at the end of the day they’re fishing for clients, and they end up sounding more like infomercials for their services or their products. ‘ Without Limits’ isn’t going to solicit or push any products or services. It will be devoted to addressing issues important to people 50+ and sharing the best available information possible so people can make informed decisions for themselves and their families.”

The hosts invite all interested individuals, both those 50+ and those who serve that population, to tune in and get involved by sending in their comments and suggestions for topics and guests.

“We want to be relevant and on point with our programming to be the best source of information and conversation on a wide variety of topics for the 50+ demographic,” Olender said.

AARP Without Limits will air every Saturday, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, on WBT (99.3 FM and 1110 AM) beginning January 16, 2016. For more information on the show, contact the hosts at charlotteradio@aarp.org .
