New York state is developing a Master Plan for Aging to meet the growing needs of older New Yorkers. The goal is to make policy recommendations on everything from resources for family caregivers to the availability of assistive devices such as hearing aids.
When lawmakers return to Albany in January, AARP will be there pushing for more support for the state’s 2.2 million family caregivers.
November is Family Caregiving Month and Military Family Month. As a family caregiver, you may be responsible for managing and administering lots of medication. If you have medications in your home that are no longer needed or expired, AARP Long Island encourages you to dispose of them safely this November.
