Here's Your Chance to Shred Those Files

AARP Utah is encouraging members to guard against identity theft by disposing of sensitive documents. Free shredding events are scheduled July 16, 8-11 a.m., in Ogden and the Midvale area of Salt Lake City.

Properly disposing of materials that contain financial and personal information can reduce the chance that scammers will steal your identity, drain your bank account and obtain credit or collect benefits in your name.

Participants can take up to 10 boxes of documents to be shredded at 6925 Union Park Center in Midvale or in the west parking lot of the Golden Spike Event Center in Ogden. AARP volunteers will be onsite at both locations to distribute information on how to fight fraud.
