AARP Ohio's document-shredding events return to Cincinnati this year with four dates. The first, Saturday, Feb. 11, coincides with Black History Month and will take place in Forest Park. The drive-through service is free and open to anyone who registers.
Bring up to four boxes or 13-gallon bags of personal papers, such as credit card bills, legal documents, bank statements, old checks and forms that display your Social Security number. Cincinnati-based Document Destruction LLC will shred the items on-site.

Shredding events are part of AARP’s fraud protection efforts.
“We want to help people stay one step ahead of identity theft,” says Nicole Ware, AARP Ohio associate state director for advocacy and community engagement.
After registering for a 15-minute slot between 9 a.m. and noon, participants will get an email confirmation with the exact address for the event.
The email will include links for Sisters From AARP, a weekly newsletter for Black women, along with Black History Month community service opportunities.
Register at aarp.org/cincinnati or call 877-926-8300. Additional events are scheduled for May 13, Aug. 12 and Oct. 14.
