AARP Oklahoma is accepting nominations for the 11 th annual AARP Oklahoma Indian Elder Honors to celebrate 50 Native American elders who have positively impacted their community, family, tribe and nation. Since its inception in 2009, AARP Oklahoma has recognized 500 elders from all 39-federally recognized tribes and nations in Oklahoma.
Join AARP Oklahoma and KOTV News on 6 Chief Meteorologist Travis Meyer for a special weather safety seminar on August 27. Keeping you and your loved ones safe is the purpose of this free event. Travis will talk about the drastic changes in weather forecasting, what that means as we age and why are safer now. He will also discuss weather unknowns, the importance of easy, accessible storm (safe) rooms and how new ideas are helping make it easier to get access safe room spaces. Travis will end his presentation with a look to the future. Attendees will have an opportunity for a question and answer period to end the evening, as well as a special meet-and-greet with Travis Meyer.

As the distinguished honorees were announced, they stood to applause, and a medallion was presented to each honoree.
Join AARP Oklahoma, LIFE Senior Services, and Tulsa Police Department’s Senior Services Unit for the Life Senior Services Senior Safety and Lifestyle Fair on Tuesday, July 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Senior Safety and Lifestyle Fair will feature 100+ exhibitors, as well as informational sessions, fitness demonstrations and health screenings. The free event will be held at Central Park Hall at Expo Square, 4145 E. 21st St., Tulsa.
