AARP Alabama to co-sponsor Congressional District 6 Republican candidate forum on Tuesday, June 24, 2014

BIRMINGHAM -- On June 24, 2014, AARP Alabama will co-sponsor a forum for the two Republican candidates who will participate in a run-off election for the Republican nomination for Alabama Congressional District Six. The candidate forum will be held at 6:30 PM at Jefferson State Community College’s Shelby-Hoover Campus, located at 4600 Valleydale Road in Hoover.

Alabama State Rep. Paul DeMarco and Gary Palmer will vie for the Republican nomination for the open seat in Congress in the Alabama run-off election to be held on July 15, 2014. The winner of the run-off will face Democrat Avery Vise and Libertarian Aimee Love in the general election on November 4, 2014.

“AARP has more than 35,000 members currently living in Congressional District Six, and this forum is an opportunity for the Republican candidates to address issues that are of importance to our members,” said Candi Williams, AARP Alabama Interim State Director.

AARP Alabama is co-sponsoring this candidate forum along with the Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce; Jefferson State Community College; Public Radio WBHM 90.3; and Fox 6 WBRC.

The public is invited to attend the candidate forum, which will be moderated by Jonathan Hardison of Fox 6 WBRC. The forum will be live-streamed on Fox 6 WBRC's web site, www.myfoxal.com. It will also be recorded for broadcast at a later date on Public Radio WBHM 90.3.
