At AARP, we work hard every day to fight for and equip individuals to live their best lives.  “What we do, we do for all,” is a guiding principle articulated by our founder, Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, that we proudly carry forward.

We want to ensure that all older adults in the District can live life with dignity and purpose. We’re in neighborhoods across the city to meet LGBTQ older adults where you are and connect one-on-one to learn more about issues that are important to you – like caregiving and the inclusion of a caregiver from your family of choice in your health records.

• Don’t miss the Age-Friendly DC listening session at 11:00 am in the 3rd Floor Conference Room - As a DC resident, you have a say in building a better future for the city. What has improved in your community? What concerns you? Please join us at a listening session to share your opinions on transportation, housing, public safety, social services and more. This feedback will be used to inform the next phase of the Age-Friendly DC Strategic Plan.

DC Black Pride

Saturday, May 27, 9:30 am – 7:00 pm, Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill, 400 New Jersey Ave.

• Join AARP at the “Grown Folks Speak Out 2017: Multi-generational Reflections” Forum, beginning at 9:30 am – Come together with community leaders and peers for a discussion and reflection from the perspective of growing older individually and collectively as a LGBTQ/SGL persons of African descent. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Then stay for the party with a purpose!
