Grant-Winning Projects Improve Livability

Livable communities logo

AARP has given more than $25,000 in quick-action grants to improve livability in Danville, Louisville and Lexington.

The funds will help pay for a community mural in Danville, pedestrian improvements at the 9th Street Divide in Louisville and a manual in Lexington describing how to add a “mother-in-law suite” to an existing house.

The support for age-friendly infrastructure in Kentucky is part of the 2018 AARP Community Challenge Grant Program, which has awarded $1.3 million nationwide to 129 projects that can make immediate neighborhood improvements.

AARP’s rapidly growing network of age-friendly communities supports the efforts of towns, cities and rural areas to become great places to live for residents of all ages.
