AN AMAZING MAINE RESOURCE AND COMMUNITY PARTNER
The American Red Cross of Maine (ARC Maine) is helping residents in our state prepare for and respond to disasters. While they are well known for their CPR training and blood drives, they also provide many resources for general safety and well-being for everyone in our community. For more information, you can follow on Twitter and Facebook.
In just one example, ARC Maine is working hard to reduce death and injury from home fires. The American Red Cross (ARC) launched their Home Fire Campaign across the country in 2014. With help from thousands of volunteers in the community, fire departments, and other partners, the ARC has been able to install over 100,000 free smoke alarms and replace batteries in existing alarms in homes across the state in their Sound the Alarm campaign. In just 3 years, they have equipped over a million homes with proper smoke alarms and fire safety. For more information on how you can help or how you can request a free smoke alarm, click here. The services provided by the ARC go above and beyond to ensure the safety, security, and comfort of the people in our community. This is something that we value at AARP Maine and are happy to share such helpful resources.

If you know someone who has made a substantial impact in your community, who has demonstrated acts of heroism, courage, kindnesses, and unselfish character in service to others, please follow the link below to nominate them for ARC Maine’s 2019 Real Heroes Award!
