AARP Pennsylvania State Director Bill Johnston-Walsh provided the following statement today in response to the finalized budget for fiscal year 2025-2026.
There is a mix of perennials and shrubs that should not be pruned before winter. Keep in mind that any pruning on a plant encourages growth. Pruning stimulates a growth hormone called an auxin. If you prune the top of a rose cane, it will stimulate growth below the pruned section. Pruning in late fall or winter is risky. The environmental temperatures will not support growth.
For many Alabamians, access to high-speed internet, also known as broadband, is not available where they live and work. AARP Alabama believes that affordable and reliable high-speed internet is no longer a luxury, it is a necessity – a necessity that can help Alabamians learn, find work, do their jobs and stay healthy. It connects older Alabamians with their family and friends and helps them remain independent. Just as importantly, high-speed internet is necessary for local businesses to prosper.
The Peninsula Agency on Aging (PAAINC) recently presented its 40th annual event entitled the “Community Forum on Aging” at the Hampton Roads Convention Center on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, from 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. This was the agency’s first in-person event since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
