As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans—including many older adults—may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. This disruption affects individuals living on fixed incomes, many of whom rely on SNAP to afford groceries and maintain their health.

There is a mix of perennials and shrubs that should not be pruned before winter. Keep in mind that any pruning on a plant encourages growth. Pruning stimulates a growth hormone called an auxin. If you prune the top of a rose cane, it will stimulate growth below the pruned section. Pruning in late fall or winter is risky. The environmental temperatures will not support growth.

Fraudulent activity involving cryptocurrency kiosks is on the rise. Cryptocurrency ATMs, also known as “crypto kiosks”, can be found in supermarkets, convenience stores, gas stations, bars, and restaurants. Crypto ATMs look like bank ATMs and allow people to conduct cryptocurrency transactions, such as sending money to digital wallets. However, they lack sufficient consumer fraud protections. As a result, criminals are using crypto ATMs to steal hundreds of millions of dollars from Americans each year.

Social Security was signed into law in 1935, and August 14th marks the 90th Anniversary. AARP Virgin Islands encouraged Governor Albert Bryan, Jr. to sign a proclamation marking August 14, 2025 as Social Security Day in the US Virgin Islands to honor this incredible achievement.
