Are you up to speed on the rules of the road?

Brush up on your driving skills by taking an AARP Driver Safety course. The four-hour course is available at numerous locations throughout Massachusetts. All classroom courses are taught by trained AARP volunteers, who are your peers.



By taking an AARP Driver Safety course, you will learn:

  • Current traffic laws
  • The safest ways to change lanes and turn at intersections
  • How to maintain proper following distance
  • How to minimize the effects of dangerous blind spots
  • Proper use of safety belts, air bags, anti-lock brakes, and new technologies used in cars
  • How to adjust to common, age-related physical changes
  • Ways to monitor your own and others‚Äô driving skills and capabilities
  • The effects of medications on driving
  • The importance of eliminating distractions, such as eating, smoking, and cell-phone use

AARP Driver Safety offers classroom and online courses


The classroom course costs $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members.  The online course costs $17.95 for members and $21.95 for non-members.  Although the program is geared toward drivers age 50 and older, licensed drivers of all ages are welcome to participate. There are no official tests to pass in order to graduate from the program.
