On September 26, 2018, 11 outstanding Marylanders from communities across the state were honored for their volunteer service by AARP Maryland at our annual awards celebration at the Gathering Place in Clarksville, Md. We were also joined by dozens of other amazing AARP Maryland volunteers!
Despite continued suburban sprawl, communities across the nation are taking steps to become better places to live and age in, according to data analyzed from the newly updated AARP Livability Index. More communities are enacting policies to improve livability with notable increases in housing trust funds that set aside revenue for a variety of affordable housing strategies—now in over 200 counties. Along with overall livability trends, AARP identifies the top ten large, mid-size and small cities.
The main run of the 2018 South Dakota Legislative Session has ended but AARP South Dakota and our advocates continue to fight for and equip the 50+ in our state to live their best lives. Take a moment to review all of our work in South Dakota, and look forward to the year ahead.
