The AARP Locust Grove Chapter 5239 work in their community is very extensive from helping veterans, organizing food drives, and more. Learn about their work and join them in the community. They meet the third Monday of every month at the Lake of the Woods Clubhouse. The meeting begins at 9:00 a.m. for coffee, snacks, and socializing, the actual meeting starts at 10:00 a.m. and always has a guest speaker.

The Franklin County AARP Chapter will feature a guest speaker at their regularly scheduled chapter meeting to be held on November 14th.  The topic of the month will be “Brain Health” and individuals of all ages are welcomed to attend.  The monthly AARP meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Essig Recreational Center at 295 Technology Drive in Rocky Mount, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151.

Rita Ricks, spiritual and business coach, inspirational speaker, workshop facilitator, and award-winning entrepreneur and author, presented a program entitled "Speaking to Your Spirit" to members of Fredericksburg AARP Chapter 3396 on April 3, 2018.
Operation Paperback is a non-profit organization incorporated in the State of Pennsylvania that collects gently used books nationwide and sends them to American troops deployed overseas.

We were saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Yeiichi “Kelly” Kuwayama, loyal member of the AARP DC Ward Circle Chapter 2183. He was 96 years-old and is survived by his wife of 51 years, Fumiko, a younger brother, George and sister, Tomi.  Kelly attended the most recent Ward Circle Chapter meeting on June 16. His memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, July 15 at 2 p.m. at Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church, 3401 Nebraska Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. (Washington Post obituary: ) In recent years, Kelly’s chapter members learned that he was a highly decorated veteran of World War II, credited with saving the life of the late Senator Daniel Inouye of Hawaii during the war.

Las Vegas resident Simeon Holloway was among the groundbreaking musicians who served our country during World War II as part of the U.S. Navy B-1 Band.  Holloway, who at 93 is an active member of AARP Chapter 4395, shared memories and unveiled a collection of historic photographs at the annual Black History Month Festival held recently at Las Vegas Springs Preserve.
