AARP Oklahoma invites volunteers to help fight hunger and feed hope by participating in its annual Day of Service, Sept. 11. Volunteers can choose one of three locations: the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma in Tulsa, the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City and the Community Market of Pottawatomie County in Shawnee.
It was a beautiful day to give back to the Washington, DC region as AARP DC volunteers help to pack one million meals to feed the most vulnerable. Older people, veterans and first responders go hungry everyday and AARP Foundation's "A Celebration of Service" focused on those who are in need the most on the day of service and observance.
Helena, Mont., Sept. 1, 2015 — AARP Montana announced today that it will host community shredding events and food drives across Montana as part of its 2015 National Day of Service. Every year, Patriot Day and National Day of Service & Remembrance is observed to remember those who were lost and honor the heroes who responded to the tragic events on September 11, 2001. Since that time, thousands of AARP staff, members and volunteers have joined in the National Day of Service by volunteering in their communities all across America.

In the wake of overwhelming tragedy, 9/11 generated one of the most spontaneous and durable outpourings ever of dedication to helping others. AARP designates Sept. 11 of each year as a National Day of Service in which AARP staff, members and volunteers are invited to give back to their local communities.
Even though the thermometer in Seattle pushed 90-degrees, that didn’t stop people from lining up for one of the day’s hottest deals in consumer protection.
UPDATE: 9/20/13, 10:54 a.m.: AARP Massachusetts staff and volunteers enjoyed a successful 9/11 Day of Service, creating several decorated book folders for Generations Incorporated. The book folders will be used by volunteer reading coaches with Generations Incorporated, who work with Boston schoolchildren in grades K-3 to help improve the children's literacy skills.
