AARP is now accepting nominations for its 2020 Texas Andrus Award for Community Service, which honors age-50+ Texans who are sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich the lives of their community members.
With nursing homes and other long-term care facilities hit hard by the coronavirus crisis, AARP Texas is holding virtual meetings with members of Texas’ congressional delegation to urge more help for older Americans and their families.
Two of Texas’ top health officials fielded questions from AARP members during a recent telephone town hall focused on COVID-19, remarking on the importance of social distancing and explaining steps that state agencies are taking to serve people in hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
Following today’s announcement by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott of his appointment of Kenneth “Kenny” Scudder of Odessa to the newly formed Governor’s Broadband Development Council, AARP Texas Director Tina Tran offered the following remarks:
