Having a loved one in the hospital can be a stressful and emotional experience — especially if you don’t have the support you need. Each day, 40 million family caregivers help older parents, spouses, children with disabilities and other loved ones live independently at home. They help with bathing and dressing, manage finances, stand by their loved one’s side when they go into the hospital, care for them when they return home, and so much more.

Family caregivers are the unsung heroes of Connecticut’s long-term care system. They provide billions of dollars annually in unpaid care, allowing their loved ones to remain at home and out of costly institutions. AARP is proud to partner with CPTV to make possible this one-hour live Town Hall Meeting that will bring together a panel of experts and caregivers, studio audience members and viewers to discuss how to plan for and navigate the challenges of caregiving and how the State of Connecticut can best support its family caregivers and their vital work. The program will be hosted by Diane Smith and feature the following panelists:
