AARP Kansas is pleased to participate in this year's Financial Freedom Expo and Summit which will be held on Saturday, April 18 in Wichita. The theme for this year’s Expo is “Get Your Money Right”! The Financial Freedom Expo is an official event of Money Smart Kansas, an annual outreach initiative designed to promote and encourage financial awareness for all ages through classes, workshops and the delivery of various resources. The event is free and open to the public.
AARP strongly supports enactment of H.B. 5215, the Uniform Power of Attorney Act, or UPOAA, in Connecticut and indeed in every state. As a nonpartisan social mission organization representing nearly 37 million members age 50+, and over 603,000 here in Connecticut, AARP believes the protections outlined in H.B. 5215 will safeguard against financial abuse of elders and promote choice.
AARP would like you to know of the Colorado Senior Day being held on August 17th at Pueblo Community College Foundation, 900 W. Orman Ave. Fortino Ballroom, Pueblo Co 81004. Attendees may find information that is useful to them. Attorneys representing the Pueblo Bar Association will be giving various presentations from 8 am – noon (7:00 am – 8:00 am registration) on topics such as Elder Abuse, Grandparent Rights, Fraud, Identity Theft, Estate Planning, and more. There will be a room dedicated for guests to meet briefly with attorneys for legal advice that specialize in various elder issues. There will be another room devoted for vendor booths which will allow Colorado Senior Law Day guests the opportunity to learn about services in the Pueblo and surrounding communities.
