To recognize her work in supporting family caregivers in New Hampshire, AARP honored Governor Maggie Hassan as a 2015 Capitol Caregiver. AARP’s 2015 Capitol Caregiver represents a bipartisan group of state legislators, lieutenant governors and governors from 25 states.
Throughout 2015, AARP New Hampshire has been fighting for you and your family, focused on key issues you’re facing in your daily lives. Because of this work, the 173,000 family caregivers in New Hampshire have more support!
Thanks to the hard work of AARP New Hampshire and others, the state legislature passed – and Governor Maggie Hassan signed – two bills to better support New Hampshire’s 173,000 family caregivers. Every day, these Granite Staters help their older parents, spouses and other loved ones remain in their homes, where they want to be.
On April 10, Governor Maggie Hassan issued an Executive Order, creating a Commission to review and advise her on the implementation of the Medicaid Managed Care program. AARP’s Douglas McNutt is one of the experts who will serve on this newly-formed Commission.
The House Finance Committee’s Health & Human Services Subcommittee has scheduled a public hearing, co-hosted by the House HHS Committee, on the affirmative Medicaid expansion opportunity for New Hampshire that appears in the Governor’s proposed budget.
