AARP Maine is working with more than a dozen towns across the state to better prepare for an aging population. These communities want to help residents age in place and foster their engagement in civic, economic and social life.
Las Vegas is among the most dangerous communities in the nation for pedestrians, ranking 13th most dangerous out of the 51 largest metro areas, a new report released by the National Complete Streets Coalition, a program of Smart Growth America, said.
Augusta is a designated Age-Friendly Community in the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities, an affiliate of the World Health Organization. An Augusta Age-Friendly Town Hall will be held at the KROC Center, 1833 Broad Street, on Tuesday, May 13, from 1-3 p.m.
About 40 Tupelo residents, including two City Council people and Mississippi Department of Transportation staff, discussed the benefits that a community transportation system would bring to the city. They discussed how community transportation would increase commerce by moving people to jobs and shopping areas.
