AARP California is forming a Veterans Advisory Council to help us build a strategy for serving and working with veterans and organizations across the state.  The Council will also review any veteran-related bills in the legislature and make recommendations to the state director on appropriate action. The ideal member will have experience in one or more of the following areas:  general veterans’ issues, veterans with disabilities, self-employed veterans, veterans who are caregivers, young/student veterans, etc. This is a VOLUNTEER role. At AARP, we salute and honor everyone who has served our great country.  That’s why we’re proud to support veterans and their families.  AARP Kentucky and KIPDA would like to show our appreciation for women veterans who have done so much to serve and protect, with a luncheon and resource fair.

Veterans and their families are sometimes targeted by unscrupulous financial and legal professionals who claim to offer free help with paperwork for pension claims. The scheme involves scammers who persuade veterans to make decisions about their pensions without giving them the whole truth about the long-term consequences, such as losing eligibility for Medicaid services or losing the use of their money for an extended period of time.
