Catch Me If You Can was nominated for two Oscar Awards and will be shown during a Movies For Grownups event in Torrington on October 19.

The Goshen County AARP Community Action Group in conjunction with the Torrington Senior Center are presenting the movie, Catch Me If You Can, Oct. 19, from 12:45-2:30 p.m., at The Senior Friendship Center, located at 216 East 19 th Avenue, in Torrington.

In the Oscar-nominated movie directed by Steven Spielberg, “Catch Me If You Can,” looks at the life of Frank Abagnale, Jr. In his early years Abagnale (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) successfully impersonated a doctor, a lawyer, and a co-pilot for a major airline -- all before his 18th birthday. A master of deception, he was also a brilliant forger, whose skill gave him his first real claim to fame. FBI Agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks) makes it his prime mission to capture Frank and bring him to justice, but Frank is always one step ahead of him.

Since his arrest at age 21, Abagnale has worked with the FBI on fraud for over 40 years and is also a FraudWatch Ambassador for AARP. Abagnale was in Casper this summer where he offered a presentation on how to keep your identity safe on behalf of AARP Wyoming. That presentation can be seen here.

AARP presents “Catch Me If You Can,”  through it’s Movies For Grownups series, which seeks to fight social isolation in those age 50 and over.
