Free AARP Classes on Smart Phones, Caregiving, and Job Hunting

AARP has exciting opportunities available for you next week to learn how to get the most out of your smart phone, look for a job in the digital age, or join a "Careversation" with other family caregivers, connecting you to tips, tools, and each other.  All of them are free to the public--AARP membership is not required!

Job Searching in the Digital Age

On Monday, August 22, join AARP for a free interactive workshop to discover the best websites and apps to connect you to job resources.  You'll also receive tips for how to network online and get noticed by hiring managers.  This workshop is from 6:30pm--7:30pm at Noah's Event Center in South Jordan, Room 2002, 322 West 11000 South, South Jordan, UT  84095.  Parking is complementary.  To reserve your seat, call 1-866-740-7588 or go online.

Learning About Smart Phones

If learning about your smart phone is what you're interested in, AARP is offering free hands-on workshops through AARP TEK (Technology, Education, and Knowledge) where phones will be provided to you for practice, and TEK guides will answer your questions.  These courses are also on Monday, August 22 at Noah's Event Center in South Jordan.  The first class, "Intro to Android Smartphones," is from 12:00pm--1:30pm; the second class, "Books, News, and Music" is from 2:30pm--3:30pm, and "Staying Safe Online" is from 4:30--5:30pm.  Parking is complimentary.  To reserve your seat at one or more of these classes, call 1-866-591-8105 or go online.

Conversations for Caregivers

Finally, if you're a caregiver who wants to connect with other family caregivers in the area to build a support network, receive tips on how to care for yourself, and find out where to go for local resources as you enjoy complimentary food and drinks, come to the Careversation on Tuesday, August 23 at Noah's Event Center in South Jordan.  Parking is complimentary.  There are two sessions; 5:00pm--6:30pm and 7:30pm--9:00pm.   To reserve your seat, call 1-800-278-1045 or go online.  To locate respite services, please contact Salt Lake County Aging and Adult Services at 801-468-3200 or check online.

Check back for more classes coming up in the fall!  In the meantime, have fun with these free sessions provided by AARP.
