Take a Smart Driver Course at AARP Utah's State Office

Did you know AARP Utah offers a Smart Driver class at its state office?  These classes can qualify you for a discount on your auto insurance or auto assistance plans (for those who are 55+)  of up to five percent!  This is the program formerly known as Driver Safety, but on Jan. 1, 2014, AARP Driver Safety launched the new and improved AARP Smart Driver™ Course, the nation’s largest driving refresher course.   Although the course is geared to drivers age 50 and older, the course is open to people of all ages.  AARP membership is not required to take the course and there are no tests to pass.

AARP’s four-hour driver safety class is taught by trained AARP volunteers. There are no tests!  The class at AARP Utah's state office is offered the second Wednesday of each month from 10:00 am--2:30 pm, including a lunch break--and lunch is on us.  There will be no class in April.  The office address is 6975 Union Park Center, Midvale, UT, 84047.

AARP Smart Driver Course is also available online.  The classroom course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members, and the cost for the online course for AARP members $17.95 and non-members $21.95.

But why do you need the course?  Cars have changed. So have traffic rules, driving conditions, and the roads you travel every day.

Missouri drivers have a chance to attend an event on how to drive safely sponsored by AARP.

Some drivers age 50+ have never looked back since they got their first driver’s license, but even the most experienced drivers can benefit from brushing up on their driving skills.

By taking a driver safety course you’ll learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques, and how to operate your vehicle more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment. You’ll learn how you can manage and accommodate common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time.
