When you are caring for a loved one at home who needs supervised care during the day, but you work or have other obligations, the Fairfax County Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) is here for you! Caregivers experience less stress as a result of having their loved one attend ADHC while they work or pursue other valued roles. Each center provides a safe and positive environment to individuals who need supervision during the day due to changes in their cognitive and/or functional abilities. Fees are based on participant’s income (and spouse if applicable) and determined by a sliding fee scale. Business hours are M-F, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with transportation available for many attendees. For more information call 703-750-3316, TTY 711 or hdadhc@fairfaxcounty.gov.

In March, AARP Virginia encouraged Fairfax residents to take the Fairfax Area Mobility Options Survey for Older Adults and People with Disabilities.  The results are in and you can view the full report here.  The survey instrument used 27 questions to learn about current trip patterns, unmet needs, barriers, and awareness of existing services. All older adults and people with disabilities residing in Fairfax County and the cities of Fairfax and Falls Church were invited to participate. The survey yielded 1,163 responses, many thanks to those who responded.
