Shredding is a key weapon in the battle to keep sensitive, personal information out of the hands of identity thieves.

AARP Washington and Boeing Employees’ Credit Union (BECU) are sponsoring free shredding events on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome to participate, and each person may bring up to three grocery bags full of documents to shred. Mobile shredding trucks will be stationed at five BECU locations, one each in Tukwila, Everett and Federal Way and two in Spokane.

Electronic items will also be accepted for recycling. Participants are encouraged to bring nonperishable goods to donate to local food banks.
