New walking group to step out May 2 at Ida Belle Young Park in Montgomery

Seniors Walking

Take some steps toward better health with the new walking group in Montgomery, sponsored by AARP. This group will walk each Tuesday and Thursday at Ida Belle Young Park, 5400 Vaughn Road, beginning May 2 at 7 a.m.

Participants will receive pedometers, special t-shirts and other incentives. This unique 24 acre park is home to a sight-impaired playground, picnic shelter with restroom, tennis courts and a walking trail. The park is intersected by a stream which is bordered by natural plant life and beautiful shade trees.

Our vision is to get more people walking for their health while enjoying the company of new friends, and to eventually expand the walking program into other parks and neighborhoods.

Get those walking shoes out of the closet and come meet others in your community. There’s no registration. Just show up by yourself, or with a friend, coworker or family member as we celebrate our city and plan for a larger community experience. All ages are welcome!
