AARP Hawai`i Celebrates Social Security in Hilo, Lihue with Augie T

Free tickets are still available for An Evening of Comedy at Aunty Sally’s in Hilo with Augie T and An Afternoon of Comedy at the Kaua`i Community College in Lihue.

The Hilo show is on Thursday, June 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Aunty Sally’s, Kaleohano’s Luau Hale. The Kaua’i show is on July 12 at 2 p.m. at the Kaua`I Community College Performance Arts Center.

The events are part of AARP Hawai`i’s celebration of Social Security’s 90th anniversary. AARP Hawai`i State Director Keali`i Lopez will speak before the show about AARP’s efforts to fight for and protect the Social Security payments that workers have earned.

Seating is limited. People who want to attend must pre-register at aarp.org/local or go to the AARP Hawai`i Facebook page and click on the events tab. You can also call 877-926-8300. You don’t have to be an AARP member to attend.

“Social Security was signed into law on Aug. 15, 1935. It’s arguably the most successful and popular initiative in American history. AARP Hawai`i is celebrating the anniversary with a series of events across the state, including an evening of comedy with Augie T,” Lopez said. “But even as we have fun and celebrate, we want people to know that AARP is serious about Social Security and that everyone can help us fight for the program that is vital to the financial security of so many kupuna.”
